Shaping the Future of Research in Europe for the Benefit of People with Diabetes
Lisbon, Portugal, 12 September 2011
International experts included: Philippe Halban, Switzerland; Miriam Cnop, Belgium; Thomas Mandrup-Poulsen, Denmark; Cliffor Bailey, UK and Joao Nabais, Portugal.
The topics for discussion ranged from the 'hopes and expectations of people with diabetes', 'developments in diabetes treatments', the 'environment for innovation' and 'political need for a European diabetes strategy'.
European Coalition for Diabetes
EURADIA also collaborates in events held in the European Parliament together with other members of the ECD (Federation of European Nurses in Diabetes, IDF Europe and Primary Care Diabetes Europe). During 2011 Professor Philippe Halban is the Chair of the ECD and EURADIA is acting as the 'secretariat'.
The meetings are held in conjunction with the EU Diabetes Working Group (EUDWG) of MEPs, Baroness Sarah Ludford (UK), Simon Busuttil (Malta), Marisa Matias (Portugal), Crystel Schaldemose (Denmark).
